MAP X KAIROSS EVENT

To mark the launch of the “Kaiross x MAP” t-shirt collection, MAP and Kaiross, a clothing brand founded by three students from the Lycée Albert Ier, organized a cocktail reception on Tuesday 13 June at the Yacht Club de Monaco.

Sofia Gilardi, Victoria Lopez de la Osa Franco and 15-year-old Matteo Asscher founded Kaiross earlier this year. The name Kaiross comes from the Greek, and means “the right moment”. This project was born with the intention of showing that, whatever our age, we all share the same values. The three young high school students, as the brand name suggests, decided to create their own clothing brand at just the right time. The “Kaiross x MAP” capsule is their second and brand new collection, created with the aim of being able to give young people like them, who grew up in less privileged places, a better future.

Half of the proceeds from the “Kaiross x MAP” collection will go in its entirety towards building a classroom for 40 pupils in Ethiopia. Following a follow-up mission to the site by two MAP representatives in early May 2023, this exciting project was born. The association has been actively supporting the Mendida Center, a village located 94 km from Addis Ababa, since 2007, through the nutritional monitoring of around a hundred malnourished women, children and babies. The kindergarten and elementary school at the center currently caters for 288 pupils, the majority from disadvantaged families. As the number of students continues to grow, this classroom will be able to accommodate an additional 40 students at the start of the school year in September, thanks in part to the funds raised by this wonderful initiative.

On the occasion of this event, Katie King, renowned English author elected “Top 10 Influencers in Artificial Intelligence” in 2023, addressed the theme of the future of education in an increasingly digital and automated world. She emphasized the capabilities that will be needed for the next generation, highlighting employment prospects, the importance of educational support and MAP’s vocational training programs, to enable the most vulnerable communities to access concrete skills.
