From November 7 to 15, 2024, Ms. Emanuela Bartoli, Administrator, and Mr. Nicolas Ryter, Program Coordinator, carried out a follow-up mission to Yaoundé, Cameroon, to monitor the projects supported and their progress since the last mission in November 2022. They joined Mr. Luca Ammendola, photographer and filmmaker, already on site since October 28, who has been working in support of the Centre Edimar Princess Grace’s communications until November 24, 2024. The MAP delegation made several visits, in particular to all the activities of the Centre Edimar Princesse Grace. The day center welcomes over 150 street kids every day, and aims to offer them a better future and support them in developing their life projects. For the past 22 years, MAP has supported the Centre Edimar, contributing each year to covering part of its operating costs and its 6 main areas of action: education, health, integration into foster families or family reintegration, family life awareness, vocational training and income-generating activities (IGA), leisure and community activities. For the past 4 years, with the support of the Princely Government, MAP has also been funding a program of school and university scholarships and vocational training for 30 young people living on the streets. This mission was an opportunity to visit the beneficiaries in the schools where they are enrolled, or at home with their original or host families. Soccer shirts and other school supplies were distributed to the youngsters and children. The farm-school project is well underway, with 5 beneficiaries enrolled and starting their training. The delegation also visited the Saint-Martin hospital in Porrès, as part of a 3-year breast milk project for 50 mothers and children affected by HIV/AIDS. A study of local needs and capacities has been carried out, with a view to launching medical training/consultation missions by Monaco doctors in 2025. Finally, MAP had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Louis Ndje, founder of the Institut Agricole d’Obala (IAO), a major project supported by Swiss cooperation and the Swiss Embassy in Cameroon for possible synergies with the Centre Edimar Princesse Grace.
MAP ensures that all projects are designed to meet the direct needs of the beneficiaries, in accordance with local socio-cultural contexts, and aims to promote long-term self-sufficiency.
