BRAZIL FIELD MISSION

From October 1 to 8, 2023, Mrs. Donatella Campioni, President, Mrs. Pilar Klemm, Vice President, the project coordinator and 3 MAP members travelled to Brazil on a mission to monitor the projects supported in the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, an area marked by drugs, unemployment, violence and extreme inequality. For almost 30 years, MAP has supported Casa Do Menor and its founder, Father Renato Chiera, in their efforts to promote the social and economic integration and inclusion of children and young people through sustainable projects.

Nova Iguaçu, with a population of over 12 million, is part of the vast outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. The program included visits to Casa do Menor’s vocational training workshops and various centers for training and reintegrating young people, as well as the new entrepreneurship promotion project launched at the beginning of the year, meetings with teams and beneficiaries, and the inauguration of the new dining hall financed by MAP in June 2023.

A mission packed with shared experiences and testimonials, with new projects on the horizon.
